Afghani heroin
addicts stare out blankly at the Darul Shifa
drug-treatment center Peshawar, Pakistan. The
center, run by the Dost Foundation, is a safe
haven for the most seriously addicted drug
abusers, most of whom live lives of squalor on
the Peshawar streets. Counselors try to coax
addicts to stay in the center and undergo
detoxification and treatment. |
